Macy Blackman & The Mighty Fines 3/12/11 | April 5, 2011

This event was our post-Mardi Gras party. Since jazz was born in New Orleans and the region is still a vital breeding ground for many of the resulting styles, it seemed right to feature this group for a fun evening.

Macy Blackman is a hardworking local band leader who plays regularly with 4 musicians in The Mighty Fines. Macy plays keyboards and even opened the night with a coronet for a traditional New Orleans number. Then his smoking band of 2 saxes, bass, and drums rocked the place with blues, ballads, classic motown and generally good music.

We had several new folks in the crowd and many regulars. We made New Orleans food for the buffet. Yum.
